Od října 1996 má škola statut fakultní školy Pedagogické fakulty Ostravské univerzity.
Od 1. 9. 2007 je škole ministerstvem školství povoleno individuálního vzdělávání žáků na 2. stupni základní školy.
Od 1. ročníku angličtina, od 7. ročníku němčina a ruština.
Pro děti v mateřské škole je nabízen kroužek keramiky, který se těší velké oblibě.
